And I thought that all weird news came out of Wisconsin in the wake of the dude whose Jackass stunt recreation went a tad wrong. I was wrong.
The German couple, brother and sister they found out, fell in love after meeting for the first time. While they were raised separately and until 8 years ago didn't know that the other existed, they do now quite well as they have four children together -- three of whom have "special needs" including one who has epilepsy. Only one of the couple's four children reside with them while the other three have been placed in foster care by the same German authorities who placed their dad, Patrick Steubing, in jail for incest.
Under a German law from the 1800s, he faces up to three additional years in the clink if that particular law barring incest isn't overturned.
Hey, let people do what they want but when it comes to bringing children into the world and 75% of your offspring won't lead normal lives, then you have a problem. Let your brother-sister love run wild but it's just flat out irresponsible to put your sexual desires in front of the responsibilities of parenthood. It disgusts me to say it but maybe they can make their twisted relationship fly but the fact remains that science has proven the overwhelming risks of siblings procreating and the law against such behavior is on the books for a reason.
While the brother/dad has had a vasectomy, he still gave it to his sister/lover a minimum of four times which had a definite outcome that produced three special needs children whose lives will never be normal because of their irresponsible behavior. I know other couples (not previously related) give birth to special needs children but the risks of that particular outcome were miniscule, these two Germans, regardless of their education level, know that at the very least a relationship such as theirs is taboo and for good reason. Hey, if you fall in love with your long-lost sister, do society a favor and get yourself a vasectomy (which this guy did only after a 75% success rate at producing special needs children). If a law needs to be on the books to discourage this behavior, maybe you need to actually educate people on the known risks of procreation within a relationship such as this.

So much for the Master race....
Keeping it "in the family" so to speak for several generations will eventually start causing problems
but it's more likely that these screwed up offspring are just a fluke.
