Space saturation

As I listened to a podcast this afternoon, the topic breifly veered into space saturation. If you aren't aware, space saturation is the act of placing items which you deem to be necessary within easy reach in the spaces you frequent.

I guess I am a space saturater by this definition. My car, as well as my wife's, has a collection of reporter's notebooks hanging around. They are between the seats, in the back seat and in the glove box. My desk at work has a number of these as well as my desk in my home office. They are found in the living room and in the kitchen too.

Less plentiful are pens used to write in these notebooks. The notebooks, due to their narrow size, are handy as hell and if your jeans pockets are somewhat wide, you can even stuff one in there and have it handy. I don't do that but I am sure there is one stuffed in one of the pockets in my camera bag. They are far from organized but notes in them date back to around 1999 and I would be forever lost if one was misplaced or tossed into recycling. If you gave a crap about what is in them, it's a bunch of design notes and tech-related stuff that, while it is dated, is still very much pertinent to what I do.

That is just one example of "space saturation" that I can think of. What item(s) do you consider that you have saturated your space with. Let me know. It may jog my memory. It might not. My life is hopelessly unorganized and I like it that way. It provides an odd comfort that only I can understand.

I have that exact same problem. Except with pens. And receipts. I always seem to have receipts lying around.

Guns and aspirin. I gave up on pens.

we have the same problem. where i sit; where my husband sits, and his car. we try to keep it limited to those spots- but lately, stuff seems to be creeping out of its place and settling where it may get more attention. :)

It brings me comfort that I am not alone in being a space saturater. The most extreme situation I heard, and it's from the podcast I mentioned, is a couple who in their apartment had ashtrays strategically placed so at no place were you more than arm's length from one.
